Rules for competing
The 2020 World’s Best Marine Elevator Technician has come to a close. We will re-open the competition in the future.
In order to compete in this contest for the First Prize or Runner-up Prize, you need to be a fully qualified elevator technician with more than 5 years of working experience. In order to compete for the Rookie of the Year Prize, you need to be a fully qualified elevator technician with between 1 and 5 years of working experience.
As a successful entrant you need to enter the competition via this link, and have a valid passport not expiring within 6 months after the closing date of the contest.
The criteria for winning this competition

- Your references (30%)
The prizes to win
- First prize: a 5-day stay in an all-inclusive top-end resort. Acceptance of the prize by the winner is conditional on the sponsor’s own terms and conditions.
- Second prize: a high performance, top-of-the-range laptop (eg. MacBook Air, Lenovo Yoga)
- Prize for the Rookie of the Year (only for technicians with less than 5 years working experience): the latest Samsung cellphone, or iPhone.
These prizes are not transferable, nor refundable, and will not be exchanged for cash or for any other consideration. Our independent jury will do their utmost best to be fair and reasonable in their decision.
This contest is open to all qualified marine elevator technicians, irrespective of who or where their employers are or were.
How to enter
Go to the contest entry page to upload your CV (resume) as well as your references from your colleagues, customers and previous and current project managers. This contest can only be entered once. Duplicate entries will be declared void.
The winners will be selected by the judges on the basis of merit only. The decision of the judges will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into. Each selected winner will be notified by email using the information entered into the contest. If the selected winner cannot be contacted or does not respond after a minimum of 3 attempts within 7 calendar days from the first attempt at contact, or if a prize notification notice is returned as undeliverable, or if the contestant declines the prize, that contestant will be declared ineligible to win the prize, including, if applicable, the First Prize, and another contestant will be selected in the manner described above. The winners’ names will be announced in social media. Post office box addresses are not acceptable as courier companies cannot deliver to box numbers. If the winner(s) resides at a country address and/or a rural route address, the winner(s) may be asked for their emergency-locate address or other identifiable information to assist the courier company with the delivery of the prize. The prize will be delivered to each confirmed winner approximately 2 weeks after the winner is confirmed save and except for any unforeseen events such as, but not limited to, a weather event, postal or courier strike, flood, fire, war, break out of disease, quarantine, hydro outage, service provider problems.
This contest is subject to all applicable provincial, territorial and municipal laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law. By participating in this contest, contestants agree to be bound by these rules and regulations. MR Marine Group (and its affiliate/subsidiary companies) will not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the contest including, but not limited to, the contestant’s information (whether it be mandatory information or optional information) entered into the contest by any person, including, but not limited to, a customer service representative. All entries become the property of MR Marine Group upon receipt and will not be returned.
MR Marine Group reserves the right to withdraw, terminate, suspend, cancel, amend or modify all or part of the contest, in any manner and any rule(s) of the contest, at any time and without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever or if it determines that for any reason the contest cannot be run as originally planned, including, but not limited to, technical failure or corruption, computer virus, bugs, computer, electronic or system malfunction, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other factor(s) or cause(s) beyond MR Marine Group’s control which in MR Marine Group’s opinions compromise the fairness or integrity of the contest and/or affect the administration, security, or proper conduct of this contest as contemplated by these official rules. By entering this contest, the winner releases MR Marine Group from any and all liability arising out of, or in connection with, this contest and the awarding of any prize, now or in the future, including the liability that may be claimed by the winner’s travelling companion(s). The winners consent to the use of their name, city and province where they reside by MR Marine Group in a format approved by that winner, as well as any audio/video image, statements, and/or photographs in any related publicity and publication without further compensation, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media and social media now known or hereafter devised, including, but not limited to, the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, SnapChat, Instagram, and in any publicity or advertising carried out by MR Marine Group, unless prohibited by law. MR Marine Group reserves the right to post or publish any winner’s name, city, or province of residence, photograph, likeness, voice or other statements, as directed by the winner, on its website and/or on the website of OTIP’s affiliated companies for advertising and promotional purposes, where lawful, without further compensation to the winner. Failure to comply with these contest rules and regulations may result in disqualification from the contest. MR Marine Group is not responsible for any entries that are lost, late, damaged, destroyed, corrupted or misdirected, incomplete, garbled, or delayed by or on any computer, online telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur in the processing transmission or receipt of entries.
